Hand Washing Awareness Week
Regular Hand Washing is a must in order to prevent the spread of illness.
Good morning. This is Dr. Joe Cincotta. This first week of December is Hand Washing Awareness Week. Regular hand washing is a lesson most, if not all, of us learned from our parents. However, it is a lesson most of us also tend to forget. This can have unhealthy consequences by spreading disease. One of the real beauties of regular hand washing is that it is a proven way to prevent the spread of disease. And, unlike many modern health care measures, this is one that costs absolutely nothing and has no negative side effects. For doctors and other health care professionals the importance of regular hand washing cannot be over-emphasized. By the nature of our work we are in regular contact with ill people. Regular hand washing is a must to prevent the spread of illness. For those who are not in health care, regular hand washing is no less important. As we enter the flu season this is a great time to review the importance of this easy and important disease preventing activity. Think about it. Do it. And, let's all stay healthier because we take the time to regular wash our hands. Thank you.
