Medicine and Change

There may be opportunities for you to participate in research studies…

Good morning. This is Dr. Joe Cincotta. Medicine is ever-changing. The change is both exciting and challenging. Approaches to problems change over time and what we once thought of as an important element of care can be replaced by more informed recommendations. Doctors are always learning through research, reading, attending conferences, and talking with colleagues. Research studies are important in finding solutions that help to advance and improve the practice of medicine. There may be opportunities for you to participate in one of these studies, and you may be part of a study that results in significant advances in medicine. In the face of change we must, however, always remember that newer is not always better, and more is not always necessary. Proof of benefit must be documented before change is widely embraced. And, proof only comes with research. We change in many ways but we never lose sight of that goal of health and balance in our lives and trying to always do what is best for you, our patients. Thank you.
