Trauma Awareness Month
There are many ways to prevent trauma. Here are just a few…
Good morning. This is Dr. Joe Cincotta. We observe a number of health areas during the month of May, not the least of which is that May is Trauma Awareness Month. The medical care system has developed a strong, rapid, and effective trauma response and care process from the immediate emergency medical technician’s on site treatment and transport to the sophisticated hospital trauma team ready to address a multitude of types of trauma. But these elements are only part of our approach to trauma. Our main focus always remains on prevention. And this is where you come in. It is the trauma that does not occur due to careful and safe activity that is the most important We have heard these cautions many times - from safe driving to helmet wearing for both bicycles and motorcycles and from safe boating to care in performing a variety of home and work-related tasks. We all need to be safe – even our Governor. Together we can reduce the occurrence of trauma, but when it does occur our medical care team is ready to take care of you with the goal of returning you to health. So be careful and be safe. Thank you.
